Apartment in the Tracery House

APARTMENT IN THE TRACERY HOUSE
Location: Moscow, Russia
Year: 2023
Area: 34 sq.m

A project of a small apartment unit in the Tracery House (Burov's House), Moscow.

The apartment consists of an entrance hall with storage for a bicycle, a spacious living room that can be easily transformed into a bedroom, a small but functional kitchen, a bathroom, and a tiny office space on the balcony.

The the project's main idea was to create a calm interior, highlighting the original elements of the apartment. Thus, the herringbone wood floor was preserved and restored in the living room and paired with terracotta tiles in other parts of the apartment. We worked very delicately with color, so these terracotta tiles were the only color accent in the main space. For bathroom we chose a complementary color, finishing the walls with olive-colored tiles.

As for the furniture pieces the client had already owned some of them, so we complemented them with our vintage finds and modern design pieces. To echo the external decorative details of the facade (part of them is visible from the kitchen side) we designed a flower-shaped ornament on the cabinet doors in the bathroom.
